5. Cultivates Sight-Reading Skills Using Transportation
Sol-fa musical vocabulary forms relationships between patterns of musical notes. Elementary musical pieces can help even the most advanced piano players enhance their sight-reading. After they utilize this process, your student should transpose the keys into even more difficult keys. Transposing music involves the changing of keys while you’re playing.
6. Gets Student Away From Piano Bench
For a new student, being glued to the piano bench can be exhausting and limit their creativity. Having students get away from the bench and practice their Sol-fa musical vocabulary and bring what they learned back to the piano can often inspire more creativity. It stimulates the brain by allowing the student to sing a certain note or phrase in sol-fa then playing that phrase on the piano.
